Had a chance to head up for a day and see what was new this year. Having ridden at Mount Washington for almost as many years as they have been open for mountain biking, I have seen changes. This years changes seem to be significant enough to say "good work fellas."
From the new Time Warp, updates to MMT, and upcoming change to Hustler along with many other items, they are on the right track. Likely the help of a mini-excavator and some money spent in the right direction, the 2008 version of the bike park has me interested in going all out and getting one of their year round passes!
Conditions couldn't have been much better for me - the rain last week has disappeared, leaving very nicely packed trails and no dust. I'm sure not for long, but that's what googles are for.
Darren Berecloth was out with his crew working hard on building the Bearclaw 3 course, and now have a nice stack of wooden toys to play with. Look for some amazing action that weekend. And before that check out the Lukcy Thursday race series. That kicks off this coming thursday night.
Oh yeah - and couldn't pass up on this opportunity - to the Barnie's out there wanting to introduce your Betty to mountain biking a la lift serviced... do us all a favour and make sure they are properly geared up to handle the conditions and know where you're going... One group today had buddy with full face, armour etc on a VP-Free, the other person had an xc lid and rode a mid travel something... but best of all though was his girlfriend on a hardtail xc bike, minimal padding on her legs and an xc lid... and they were trying to ride Monster Mile!
So if you haven't been up in a while go have fun and check it out.
